Why Eat Salmon?

Salmon is an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids — a type of fat that help prevent your blood from forming clots that can cause heart attacks. Omega-3’s also protect against irregular heartbeats, assist in lowering blood pressure, and reduce the risk of stroke. In addition to being an excellent source of Omega 3’s salmon is a great source of protein, and helps improve the production of collagen, keratin, and melanin.

The café offers a Shanghai Salmon entree prepared in a soy-sesame & sake marinade, served with spicy sautéed green beans & toasted cashews. A delicious meal packed with vitamins A, K, and C, protein and iron.

CAFE HOURS:
6:00 am - 6:00 pm M-F
8:30 am - 1:00 pm S

Film Night

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

Based on the exploits of historical outlaws, Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) and the Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) are leaders of the violent Hole-in-the-Wall Gang; Butch is the ideas man, while Sundance puts them into action. Their criminal exploits occur at the time when the west was becoming civilized and prompt the creation of a special posse that engages in an unrelenting pursuit. The late 60’s film celebrates the actions of engaging and handsome antiheroes who oppose a dubious authority but leave us with some interesting questions about the conflicts between freedom and the rule of law. (4 Oscars)

Join UW Professor Jim Claues for wine, cheese and discussion on April 14th at 7:00 pm.

What to do with your RMR Results

One of the difficult things about reading health reports is knowing what to do with all the data once you have it. What do the numbers mean to you on a daily basis? The RMR, or Resting Metabolic Rate, assessment gives an estimation of the amount of energy your body needs to function each day. RMR reports the number of calories, or energy, that your body expends if you were to lie still all day. While some of us dream about a day lying on the couch with nothing to do, chances are your daily life involves much more than this. We can use the RMR as a launching pad to calculate the total calories that your body needs in a day. We multiply the RMR number by factors to include daily living such as brushing your teeth and washing dishes as well as factors for active jobs and exercise. The more active your daily life is, the more energy your body burns doing those tasks.

Improve Your Golf Game without Expensive Equipment

One of the best ways to lower your handicap in golf may not be to upgrade the tools in your bag, but to improve the function of your own body. The golf swing is a dynamic movement that requires balance, flexibility, strength and power. It must be performed with exact precision countless times in a round to achieve a good score; thus requiring a significant amount of muscular endurance.
