Dear Seattle Athletic Club Member,

Earlier this week Governor Inslee introduced the new “Healthy Washington - Roadmap to Recovery” plan. According to the new plan, regions across the state, including King County, will enter Phase 1 on Monday, January 11th. Please see the announcement link here.

As a result, we are excited to announce that on Monday, January 11th, we will be reopening the Club under the guidelines outlined below.

Club Guidelines:

  • Facilities are required to provide a minimum of 500 square feet per person in all areas of the facility. The minimum of 500 square feet per person occupancy will be calculated and posted for every room in our facility where indoor fitness and training occurs.

  • Individuals may only use the facilities for less than an hour at a time.
  • Per the State regulations, members are only permitted to be within our facility for a maximum of one hour. Members must immediately exit the facility after their appointment/reservation.
  • Members are required to have a pre-booked appointment time to access our facilities and services prior to entering the Club. You are able to do this via the Front Desk, your Member Portal, as well as on the Seattle Athletic Club App: https://sacng.com/for-members-ng/quick-links/events?id=636

  • All appointment/class times within the facility are restricted to 45 minutes in duration. (Classes solely on our Virtual Schedule will remain unchanged.)

  • Face masks are required within the facility at all times. If the intensity level of exercise becomes too strenuous, we ask you to manage and reduce your exertion level.

  • A minimum of 6 feet of physical distance between individuals must be maintained at all times. 

  • We ask every member to help us maintain the health of our Club environment by cleaning your equipment before/after each use.

  • Our reopening hours will be:

    • Weekdays 6:00am-8:00pm

    • Weekends 7:00am-3:00pm

  • Unavailable services - Childcare, Café, Locker Rooms (*vanities and restrooms will remain open), showers (other than rinsing pre/post swim), towel service, and Spa areas

  • Between reservation time slots there will be a 15-minute transition time during which our cleaning staff will be performing a thorough sanitization to spray and clean all equipment.

  • We ask members to limit reservations to one reservation per visit, per day. If you are unable to make a reservation time frame, please ensure you cancel the appointment so other members can utilize the space. 

  • Reservations cancelled less than 3 hours in advance will be subject to a $15 “no-show” fee.

Departmental Guidelines:


  • The Cardio and Weight Room areas will be bookable for members throughout the day. 

  • Per the state regulations requiring a minimum of 500 square feet per person, each room will be limited to the following capacity limits:

    • Weight Room 5 participants 

    • Cardio Room 3 participants

  • All reservations need to be pre-booked via the Member portal, Club App or at the Front Desk.

Group Exercise

  • The following rooms will have the participant capacity limits of:

    • Mind & Body Studio 4 participants plus the instructor

    • Cycling Studio 1 participant
  • All classes need to be pre-booked via the Member portal, Club App or at the Front Desk.

  • We will be adding more live classes as we progress through the reopening phases. Classes will continue to be streamed online for members that are uncomfortable coming into the Club.

  • The Cycling and Mind & Body Studios will be available for an individual to book virtual classes.

  • Yoga mats, blocks, blankets and straps will no longer be supplied by the Club. Participants need to bring their own and/or we will have available for purchase at the Front Desk.


  • One swimmer per lane only (2 if from the same household).

  • Lanes will be staggered so the "end" that each swimmer starts and finishes is appropriately distanced. Swimmers will be asked to take their "breaks" at the designated "end" or "home" base for that specific lane.

  • Water Aerobics:

    • Classes are limited to 5 participants and require pre-registration.

  • Reservations are required through the Member Portal, Club App, or at the Front Desk.

  • Pool equipment:

    • Swimmers must come prepared to swim, we are unable to provide access to the lockers at this time.

    • Swimmers must bring their own towels as regular towel service will not be available.

    • Minimal equipment will be accessible (kickboards, pull-buoys, etc).

  • Pre-rinse and post-rinse showers ONLY. Soap will not be provided or allowed for use.

  • Masks are required on the pool deck up until the time you are getting into the pool and immediately upon exiting the pool.


  • Per the state regulations requiring a minimum of 500 square feet per person, only solo exercising/hitting will be allowed.

  • Pre-booking of Squash lessons/court reservations are required prior to entry. 

  • Face masks are required at all times. Face shields recommended.

  • If the intensity level becomes too strenuous, we ask you to manage and reduce your exertion level. 

  • Squash Instruction on a one-on-one basis only, but instruction must be properly distanced. Instructors will be wearing face masks and face shields.

  • We ask members to ensure that they:

    • Use personal towels to wipe off sweat, no wall contact. 

    • Please use your own racquet, hand towel and balls.


  • The Pickleball Court will be made available for booking. Please see the Club App or member portal for available times.

  • There is a maximum of 4 participants for each booking time slot (2 per side).

  • All reservations need to be pre-booked via the Member Portal, Club App or at the Front Desk.

  • Use of your own pickleball equipment is required rather than using shared items.

  • A minimum of six feet of physical distance between individuals is required at all times.

  • Use of your own racquet required. No rental or Club equipment will be available.


  • Individuals are able to utilize the basketball court for individual practice/drills only. 

  • No games or competitions are allowed. 

  • No contact is allowed and a minimum of 6 feet of physical distance between individuals is required at all times.

  • One person per hoop (up to 3 if within the same household).

  • All reservations need to be pre-booked via the Member portal, Club App or at the Front Desk.

  • Individuals are asked to bring their own balls. Club balls will be available, but it is required that users wipe down before and after use.

On Demand (within Facility) Cycling, Yoga and Group Exercise Classes 

  • Members may access our Fitness on Demand virtual programming within the Cycle and Mind & Body Studios when not in use.

  • Members will need to make an online reservation for each space. 

  • Bookable times will be made available on the Member portal, Club App or at the Front Desk.

Personal Fitness Training

  • Our staff can also meet with you virtually to review and discuss the equipment and space you have, and then design a fitness program based upon your needs and resources.

    • Covid-19 Reset - A “reset button” for your fitness and health

    • Mobility Flow - A program to improve movement capacity, flexibility, and physical performance


  • Private one-on-one training is available - the studio will have one instructor at a time and there will be a time buffer in between clients to allow for proper sanitation and setup of equipment. Verbal coaching is only allowed.

  • Virtual private, duet and small group sessions are available.

According to the new ”Healthy Washington” reopening plan, the state will assess and announce whether each region can move into Phase 2 every Friday. As a result, we will continue to update the services and amenities we are able to provide to our members in as timely a manner as possible.

We will also continue to provide a wide array of online classes and services for our members. The Club currently has 44 virtual classes streaming and available each week! We also have an extensive library of fitness resources available for you on demand through our YouTube pages.
